April 2nd, 2015

Students have been asked to take home their acrostic poems to work on over the weekend.  Just a few reminders about what we talked about to create the poem.  We want to include alliteration for each sentence (words that begin with the same letter).  Not every word has to start with the same letter but try to include as many words as you can with the same letter.  We also talked about the importance of each sentence being about you!  We suggested that students make a list of words about themselves to help generate ideas for their poem.

Our plants have really grown in this week so we spent some time this morning observing, writing and sketching both the plants in the green house and the bean seeds that we are experimenting with.  The beans with water and sun have started to sprout a small root and the bean seeds in the dark with water have also sprouted.  The bean seeds without water and the seeds with acid water have not changed.

In preparation for Music Monday, all the students in the school are working on "We Are One" in music class. Since we will be singing this song on Monday, May 4th at the same time as students across Canada, she is requesting that all Cranston students know the lyrics for this piece of music. Students should be going over the lyrics at home. You can find a YouTube video of the song and the lyrics on the Music Monday website.

Reminder that there is no school tomorrow as it is Good Friday. There will also be no school on Monday, April 6th as it is a PD day. We will see everyone back at school on Tuesday, April 8th!

Please take a look at our safety website put together by the School Bound and Safety Committee if you haven't done so already. There is important information on there for parents and students about safety in coming and going from school.
